The bamboo craft is associated with cane and bamboo, and had been a part of Indian crafts giving rise to the expression of tribal art and provided them livelihood. The craftsmen create different items with the help of different bamboos and canes that are locally known as `sundi`, `barjali`, `harua`, `golla` etc are required for making furniture and baskets.

Bone Craft

Handicraft made from animal bone. Raw bone of dead animals is cut into pieces of desired size and immersed in water for 12 hours. This process softens the bone. Later these pieces are scrapped and cleaned. Then they are shaped to a desired object on a lathe. Carving is done with the aid of a file drill. Carving entails systematic scrapping/scooping and chiseling of the materials from the core block. The crafts made from Ivory and Shell are also very famous. The design on the bone carving are floral and figurative based on the inspirations from the Mughal architecture and foliage. Initially ornaments were made out of the natural bones, but for the past many years bone is treated with many attractive colours of natural stones like feroza, topaz, quartz etc.

Brassware

Handicraft made from brass, usually by transforming brass sheets. Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh is famous for its intricate work of art on brass. Metal engraving is an ancient craft, which finds reference in the vedas. Archeological findings of the copper tools of 300 B.C. at pre - Harappan sites of Baluchistan and Kali Bangan in Rajasthan, reveal the existence of metal ware in Indian sub-continent. The iron beams of Konarak Sun Temple in Orissa and the iron pillar at Qutab Minar in Delhi are two out of numerous examples of the durability of the old iron works in this country.

Browser

A software that resides in your computer and acts as an interface between you and a web-site. The browser translates web-pages, written in HTML, into formatted, nice looking text. Common example of browsers are Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera etc.

Cache

An area in your computer's hard disk that is used to temporarily store most frequently requested content of websites. Caching is a technique used by browsers to speed up surfing. If a user requests a particular web page, the browser first checks the 'PC's cache' to see if a copy exists. If the user has visited the page recently - its content will remain in the browser's cache. In that case, the browser delivers the page from cache area of local hard disk rather than download it from Internet. This speeds up the loading of the page, and reduces network congestion. However, there is a flip side as servers under-count the number of times a page is viewed. Sometimes, it fools users by showing old content. The user may get around caching by either Reloading/Refreshing the web-page or clearing browser's cache at regular intervals.
